After spending more than 20 years in corporate business management, Dr. Joan Swart decided to pursue her passion for criminal psychology and is now a forensic psychologist, working with mindfulness, cognitive behavioral-based therapy, and behavioral analysis and research. She received her doctorate in forensic psychology at the Eisner Institute for Professional Studies in Encino, CA, an M.S. (forensic psychology specialization) at Walden University in Minnesota, MN, and also holds an MBA. Joan served on the editorial board of the APA’s International Journal of Behavioral Consultation and Therapy and is a behavioral science consulting member of the American Investigative Society of Cold Cases, and editor-in-chief of the Journal of Cold Case Review. She has published several books, book chapters, and articles in peer-reviewed journals, including a book published by Springer titled “Treating Adolescents with Family-Based Mindfulness”.
